Supergirl: Behind-The-Scenes Set Video

CBS has released a behind-the-scenes video of the cast and crew returning to the set of Supergirl on the first day of filming for the full season.  You can’t deny that Melissa Benoist was probably chosen due to her natural ability to exude infectious enthusiasm — something she has in common with the many incarnations of Kara Zor-El.  Check out some interviews with the cast and a sneak peek of what they’re filming for the second episode.

Based on the scenes being filmed and comments made by David Harewood, who plays Hank Henshaw, it seems that the covert agency Kara’s sister Alex works for really wants to see what Supergirl is made of.

Though the pilot was already filmed — and leaked — this second episode is considered the first one being produced since CBS’s commitment.  Audiences who have seen the pilot have given it mixed reviews.  CBS may want to take this to heart, as it still has a little time to fix any flaws with character and tone.  The first seasons of most shows usually see the actors getting a grasp of their characters, and Supergirl would be no different.

CBS’s Supergirl is set to premiere on October 26, 2015.  The series was developed by Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler, and Andrew Kreisberg, and will star Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El / Kara Danvers / Supergirl, Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, and Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers.  Laura Benanti will having a recurring role as Alural Zore-El.  Guest stars will include Jeremy Jordan as Winslow “Winn” Schott, Helen Slater as Eliza Danvers, Dean Cain as Jeremiah Danvers, Faran Tahir as The Commander, and Owan Yeoman as Vartox.
