How The DC Movie Universe Ties Together

The DC movie universe starts off with a bang next year, and with many more movies on the way. But how do they all tie togther and how much freedom do the different directors have? Marvel has a reputation of hiring quirky and talented directors, that often burn out after a couple of movies after dealing with all of Marvel’s mandates. Is DC going to be different? Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder explains.

"What we are doing is ground up all the way. It is one giant story. The first thing we had was the Justice League concept. The other movies, in a way, have to support that. That is our Wonder Woman, our Aquaman. They have their own creative concepts that supports them, but they do serve Justice League in the coming together of those heroes.I want all the other directors of the other films to be able to stretch their legs and do what they want, but at the same time there is a big interconnected universe. I have given everyone amazing access to our story, to me, and what we are doing. All the films have like minded conceptual jumping on points."

Honestly doesn’t sound all that different, because they want directors of these movies to put their own stamp on the movies, but want them still to feel like and tie-into the bigger DC movie universe. Will this work? We may actually not find out until Justice League comes out in a few years…
