Ant-Man Heads Towards $300 Million Worldwide

This weekend’s box-office was definitely owned by the newly released Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, but Ant-Man, which has been out for a little over two weeks, isn’t doing too shabby either.  Data gathered by Box Office Mojo shows that the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe installment has, so far, earned a domestic box-office total of $132,148,000 and a foreign box-office total of $159,500,000 for a combined worldwide total of $291,648,000.

The Peyton Reed-directed film which stars Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas had a rough start during initial production.  Original director/writer Edgar Wright left the project due to creative differences with producer Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios.  After that, fans were worried that this could be the first Marvel Studios flop which would signal a downward trend for the movie universe that could do no wrong.  With the current data, it seems that ticket sales prove that the studio still has its golden touch and can still make even the most obscure characters compelling.
