Rumor: Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy To Do More X-Men Films
By Nick Tylwalk
Some of the best known X-Men, like Jean Grey, Cyclops and Storm, have been recast with younger actors for the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse. But whatever the plans might be for the franchise after this next film, maybe we shouldn’t be too quick to do the same for Professor X and Magneto just yet.

According to ace scooper Umberto Gonzalez at Heroic Hollywood, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender might be willing to continue on in their roles. The site’s sources are saying that both men might have already signed on to do more films following Apocalypse, which would give the films some additional stability going forward.
That’s assuming, of course, that there are more X-Men films after 2016, but given their performance at the box office to date, that seems like a logical conclusion. Director Bryan Singer and producer/writer Simon Kinberg have often spoken of X-Men: Apocalypse as the final part of a trilogy that began with X-Men: First Class, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that Fox needs to reboot the series again, and if Fassbender and McAvoy are sticking around, things can proceed without drastic changes. Both men are old enough in relation to the newly cast mutant heroes that it would work out for them to be paternal figures, one would think.
One prominent character who will still need a new actor is Wolverine. Unless he changes his mind, Hugh Jackman has already made it known he’s hanging up the claws after the third Wolverine solo flick, which is due on March 3, 2017.
