Agents Of SHIELD: Expect A Big Time Jump For Season 3 Premiere

When Agents of SHIELD returns for its Season 3 premiere on September 29, don’t be surprised to find out that a lot has happened since the last time we saw Phil Coulson and his crew.

According to Zap2It, fans should be prepared for a time jump between seasons, enough that a “decent amount of time” has passed since the Season 2 finale.

It doesn’t sound like we’ll be jumping ahead a year or more, but enough time to explain Skye/Daisy having a new haircut and outfit and some new workplace bonds having formed, including a partnership between Daisy and Mack. What won’t be resolved in the meantime is the fate of the one member of the team who ended Season 2 on a cliffhanger: Jemma Simmons, who we last saw getting sucked into a mysterious Kree device.

Still, it doesn’t sound like we’ll have to wait too long to find out where she went and if she’s coming back relatively unscathed. Elizabeth Henstridge, who plays Simmons, had this to say to Zap2It about when we can expect a resolution:

"We’re now on episode 2, but we will find out. It’s not something that will be strung out too long. I think the repercussions of it will be a huge part of this season, and that will be a bit more of a slow burn, as will the Inhumans. Daisy and Mack are heading up that team."

Will it be quick enough to save Fitz’s undoubtedly broken heart (which he can’t really afford after his head trauma last season; writers, please cut the guy some slack!)? We’ll find out in about two months.
