George Miller Directing ‘Man of Steel 2’???

facebooktwitterreddit

OK, so this is a bit of a weird one. Rumors have been permeating the interwebs about the possible director for Man of Steel 2. Hilarious man (and super cool guy – I got to hang out with him once) Jon Schnepp announced on his podcast that George Miller would direct the next solo Superman film.

Coming off the surprising success of Mad Max: Fury Road, Miller has once again become a sought after director. No surprises in that part of the rumor. The ironic part is that Miller was slated to direct his own Justice League film back in 2007, but the project was scrapped in favor of the direction the DC cinematic universe is going now.

Check out Schnepp’s comments:

I have to say, I would welcome that. Miller has shown a knack for compelling emotional storytelling, something Zack Snyder whiffed on in the first installment of the rebooted franchise.

Snyder will be tied up with Batman v Superman back to back to back with Justice League films, so they were going to have to move on to someone else anyway. Perhaps serendipitous.

A documentary about the failure of Justice League: Mortal is currently awaiting WB approval for release, similar to The Death of ‘Superman lives‘.
