Stephen Amell Might Wear New Green Arrow Suit At WWE SummerSlam

When the WWE has used celebrities in its wrestling matches in the past, there’s always been some question about what they might wear in the ring. Not so much with Stephen Amell, who’s used to “suiting up” as Oliver Queen on Arrow.

The thing is, Amell is getting ready to tackle a slightly different twist for Season 4 of his hit show, as Oliver is coming back to his city as Green Arrow. He’s got a spiffy new costume to go with the (slight) name change, as you can see above.

Might we see him wear it in Brooklyn on Sunday when he joins Neville to take on Stardust and King Barrett at SummerSlam? Amell posted a Facebook video last night to give us all a little preview of what to expect from him. At the end, he holds up what looks like his latest vest, rhetorically asking if we thought he would come without it.

Amell will hardly be the first non-wrestler to take an active role in a WWE pay-per-view. It’s a tradition that dates back 30 years to WrestleMania I, when Mr. T teamed with Hulk Hogan to battle “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff. A more recent example took place in 2008 when boxer Floyd Mayweather stepped in the ring at WrestleMania XXIV against the Big Show.

Mayweather wore boxing gloves for his match, so it’s only right that Amell be allowed to sport his Green Arrow suit. Something tells me he may have to leave the bow behind, but maybe when the referee’s not looking …

If you want to catch Amell at SummerSlam, it will air at 7 pm on Sunday, August 23, live on the WWE Network.
