Henry Cavill Debates Wonder Woman or Lois Lane

It’s been an occasional debate throughout the history of Superman. Would the Man of Steel be a better match with his co-worker (and apparently inept investigative journalist for not being able to figure out that he’s just wearing glasses) or fellow super powered hero Wonder Woman. I know I’ve debated the idea and DC has gone so far as to address it directly in the New 52, Mark Millar’s brilliant Red Son, Mark Waid’s Kingdom Come and various random arcs.

One of my favorite things about Henry Cavill as Superman is the fact that he embraces the role and all of geek culture. Case in point: He weighed in on the Lois/Diana debate. Diplomatically, he framed the issue be first praising Gal Gadot and working with her as Wonder Woman.

"Strong women are nothing new for the comic book world. I’m glad they are being represented a bit more in film and on TV. Wonder Woman has been around forever, she is an incredibly strong character. She can go toe-to-toe with Superman sometimes."

Then he tackled the argument head on.

"This is a very long discussion because there are a lot of questions to be asked and answered. I mean who is better for a super-powered alien, a human or a goddess? Yes, the goddess can do all the normal things, which we would think are normal in a relationship, and not have any fear of Superman. But you also need to have that baseline of humanity, which Lois provides. And literally keeps his feet on the ground, keeps him down to earth. So that’s more of a debate than an answer."

Well, at least he’s willing to jump in head first when it comes to fanboy debates.

The answer, by the way, is Lana Lang.
