10 Worst Super Hero Movies Of All Time
By Nick Tylwalk
3. Catwoman
Rotten Tomatoes score: 9%
Domestic box office: $40.2 million
Unlike other movies on this list, I really can’t understand any of the thinking behind this movie other than making Halle Berry the star. Taking one of the most classic Batman characters of all time and then jettisoning everything related to Batman? Okay, good luck with that!
But even though this sounded like a horrible idea from the start, that doesn’t excuse how truly regrettable this movie turned out to be. Patience Phillips is the least interesting person ever to don a Cat-suit. Then the writers drop her into a stew that includes an anti-aging cream was nasty side effects, an Egyptian cat god and Sharon Stone. It’s like a horrifying blend of several bad movies in one.
I’m actually at a loss about what else to write about this movie because it just makes my brain want to shut itself off thinking about it. Let’s just say that Berry belongs in the pantheon of screen Catwomen that includes Julie Newmar, Lee Meriwether, Eartha Kitt and Michele Pfeiffer, and is arguably a better actress than all of them. It’s a shame that she ended up with the sorriest material of the group.
I did mention this movie inexplicably has nothing at all to do with Batman, right? Just checking.
