Even fans who haven’t read the comic book series from which it draws inspiration are aware that when Captain America: Civil War releases next year, it will split the super hero community of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in two. The biggest question then is also an obvious one: which heroes stand with Captain America, and who sides with Iron Man?

Now some leaked promo art obtained by ComicBookMovie.com appears to have revealed exactly how the teams shape up. The images clearly show a group of super heroes flanking Captain America, with another group beside Iron Man.

For the most part, the art confirms an earlier rumor about the composition of the teams sniffed out by Heroic Hollywood, but with a key difference or two as well.

Last chance for spoiler warnings

Here we go. Standing with Captain America are the following heroes:

  • Hawkeye
  • Ant-Man (on Hawkeye’s shoulder, actually)
  • Sharon Carter
  • Falcon
  • Winter Soldier

We love seeing Sharon here, and had speculated a while back that the end of Revenge might free up Emily VanCamp for a larger role in the MCU. Missing from earlier reports about Team Captain America is Scarlet Witch, which is interesting.

In the other corner, we have the heroes siding with Iron Man:

  • War Machine
  • Black Widow
  • Black Panther
  • Vision

This squad is one person short in terms of raw numbers, but I’d argue it has the raw power edge. The Panther’s appearance is a surprise since he was said to play more of a neutral role, and HH had Spider-Man on this side. A quick thought here is that perhaps Black Panther begins the conflict on Team Iron Man before deciding it would be wiser not to take sides, with Spider-Man coming aboard later in the film.

As with most things concerning Captain America: Civil War, we’re left with as many questions as answers even when information leaks out to the public. The movie recently wrapped its shoot and will be headed our way on May 6, 2016.
