DC gave the world a heads up a while ago that Batman Day 2015 would be on September 26. Now that we’re just a few weeks away, more details are being released about exactly what this holiday (not a real holiday, mind you, though it should be) has in store for fans.

As announced today, the festivities will include free comics. Participating comic shops, bookstores and libraries will be giving away a free copy of Batman Endgame Special Edition #1, which drops readers into the popular arc by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo featuring an unforgettable clash with the Joker. As an added bonus, the issue includes an 8-page preview of Batman and Robin Eternal, the upcoming weekly series.

That’s not all. Multiple retailers will carry free variant cover versions of Batman Endgame Special Edition #1 in case you feel like hunting them down and creating your own set. Many of these retailers will also have special Batman Day deals on Batman merchandise and have additional giveaways.

Here’s the list of places to go variant hunting on the 26th:

  • Barnes & Noble
  • Best Buy
  • Books a Million
  • FYE
  • Gamestop
  • Hastings
  • Hot Topic
  • Spencers

Many local comic shops will also be carrying variants, and if digital comics are your format of choice, you’ll be able to find them on iTunes, Amazon, Comixology, Google Play and Nook.

On top of that, if you’re in certain areas, you’ll be able to meet talent from the Batman family of comic books and get autographs as well. Here’s a rundown of who will be where:

"Signings and meet-and-greets with top Batman talent including an all star line-up at Baltimore Comic-Con with Scott Snyder, Greg Pak, Jimmy Palmiotti, Amanda Conner, Peter Tomasi, Cully Hammer, and Klaus Janson.  Additional Batman day signings include acclaimed artist and DC Entertainment Co-Publisher Jim Lee (Los Angeles), Greg Capullo (Guilderland, NY), Tom King (Baltimore), Paul Dini (Los Angeles), Tim Seeley (Chicago), Dan Jurgens (St. Paul), Brenden Fletcher (Toronto, ON), Sean Murphy (Brooklyn) Len Wein (Los Angeles), Chris Burnham (Burbank), Ray Fawkes (Toronto, ON), Pat Gleason (St. Paul), Brian Buccellato (Los Angeles), Kyle Higgins (Los Angeles), Matt Manning (Asheville, NC), Daniel Wallace (Eden Prarie, MN), with many more to be announced."

If you aren’t circling the 26th on your calendar yet, I don’t know what to tell you. Check out the Batman Day micro-site for more, and someone please ask my boss if being the EIC of a comic book and super hero site gets me that day as an official holiday. I kind of feel like it should.
