A Forgotten Defender Returns In Patsy Walker, A.K.A. Hellcat #1
By Nick Tylwalk
Plenty of female Marvel super heroes have been enjoying a higher profile in recent years, but the only one who started her comic book career as the star of teen humor series has been left out. That’s going to change come December, when Patsy Walker, A.K.A. Hellcat #1 brings the former Defender and ally of the Avengers brings her back in a big way.

Writer Kate Leth and artist Brittney Williams — who you might know from Adventure Time and Lumberjanes, resepctively — want to position Walker as the ultimate adventurer, someone who won’t turn down a request for help or a chance to face danger, and isn’t afraid to drag her friends along as well.
“I want to continue the thread of her being the kind of girl who calls you up out of the blue and you always say yes, because it’s an adventure,” Leth said in a press release. “She’s a super hero martial-arts wiz that can sense mystical energy! She learned how to fight on the moon, so you KNOW she’s good at what she does and has the history to back it up.”
Editor Wil Moss added that readers can expect to see a host of female guest stars, including She-Hulk, Captain Marvel, Kate Bishop and Squirrel Girl … maybe. In any case, it’s a chance for readers to rediscover Walker or be introduced to Hellcat for the first time, and it’s coming before the end of 2015. Until then, enjoy this concept art by Williams, and … oh my goodness, a variant cover by George Perez! See, told you it would be a big deal.
