First Look: Your Favorite Wookie Flies Solo In Chewbacca #1
By Nick Tylwalk
You know him and love him as the galaxy’s best wingman, Wookie sidekick to Han Solo. He’s strong, loyal and an ace pilot and mechanic, and lovable even if you can’t understand what he’s saying. He’s Chewbacca, of course, and while he’s not generally known for going it alone, that’s exactly what he’s about to do in the pages of Chewbacca #1.

Writer Gerry Duggan and artist Phil Noto are teaming to bring readers a tale set after the legendary Battle of Yavin (you might remember it as the time the Death Star blowed up real good). Finding himself cut off from his friends, all Chewbacca wants to do is get back to the Rebel Alliance. But after he crashes on a planet occupied by the Imperials, he comes across a local girl in need of the kind of help only he can provide.
Think he’d turn his back on someone in need? Not likely, and by working together, maybe this unlikely duo will be enough to fight off the invaders and get Chewie back to where he belongs. Let’s just say I wouldn’t want to be the guys on the wrong end of the bowcaster.
We’ve got a first look at several pages from Chewbacca #1, along with variant covers by Alex Ross, Ariel Olivetti, Gabriele Dell’Otto and Skottie Young. Look for it at your favorite LCS or on digital on October 14, and as always, it’s probably smart to let the Wookie win.
