Rosario Dawson is Batgirl in LEGO Batman

Having been in Sin City Marvel’s Daredevil Netflix series, and doing voice over work as Wonder Woman in Justice League: Throne of Atlantis and Artemis in Wonder Woman, Rosario Dawson is no stranger to the comic book genre. It should be no surprise, then, that she’s been cast as Batgirl, AKA Barbara Gordon in the upcoming LEGO Batman.

In fact, Dawson actually wrote a comic series of her own called O.C.T.:Occult Crimes Taskforce so I see it as perfect casting.

"Rosario Dawson will be a member of the Bat-family in Lego Batman, Warner Bros.’ spinoff of The Lego Movie. Will Arnett is reprising the Caped Crusader role he originated in Lego Movie.Michael Cera is voicing the hero’s sidekick, Robin, while Zach Galifianakis is playing the Joker.Dawson will voice Barbara Gordon, the daughter of police commissioner James Gordon who later becomes the crime-fighting heroine Batgirl.Chris McKay, the animation supervisor on Lego Movie, is directing the project, which has a script written by author-screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith.Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the custodians of the Lego screen brand, are producing."

Keep in mind that this isn’t the original LEGO Batman series, based on the video games. This is essentially replacing it as a big budget theatrical series due to the crazy popularity of The LEGO Movie.

The LEGO Batman Movie hits screens on February 10th, 2017.
