Batman v Superman Details Revealed!
By Skip Harvey
This weekend has seen a lot of Batman v Superman details, photos, and spoilers hit the interwebs. The latest from the big DC Films blockbuster comes not from some trolling fanboy or a speculative blog post.
The newest in the line of BvS news comes directly from the horse’s mouth, as it were. Henry Cavill spilled the beans about the film’s opening sequence…the ‘prologue’ as it’s been described.
"What happens there is one of Bruce’s buildings gets destroyed and he’s trying to save all the people inside the building and he can’t. So he is this angry person who fears what Superman may do. Why are they just going to trust this super-powered alien? What if he does decide to turn against us?"
K. We kinda already knew that, but I’m with it so far. That helps us place the sequence we saw in the first big trailer where Bruce Wayne looks up to see Superman brawling with General Zod on the Metropolis skyline.
But wait, there’s more! Batman himself, Ben Affleck chimed in on the scene and what drives his character to take up arms against the Man of Steel.
"He’s found himself in a place of harboring a tremendous amount of rage for Superman. So it’s how he got there, and what that’s done to him, and what that’s done to people around him like Alfred, who are, I think, very scared and worried for him. It’s something that’s interesting and new."
Honestly, I like this approach to introducing these characters. We need a real motivation for the fight to take place otherwise our ability to believe in the narrative will be tested early and often.
