Gotham: A Bitter Pill To Swallow Preview

Well, you think things would finally start calming down just a bit in Gotham. The Maniax are all dead, save for Barbara Kean who is not dead, but out of commission for the foreseeable future after falling from a church window ledge in last week’s episode. The former Mayor has been rescued from captivity and Theo Galavan is behind bars. Things should calm down at least a little, right?

Yeah right, this is Gotham we are talking about. In next week’s episode, “A Bitter Pill To Swallow”, the stakes just continue to rise as Gordon’s life is in more danger than ever before, and he’s getting near a very, very dangerous edge. Check out the synopsis and video promo for “A Bitter Pill To Swallow” below:

"Gordon and Barnes continue cleaning up Gotham, and Gordon comes face-to-face with one of the city’s most dangerous hitmen, Eduardo Flamingo (guest star Raul Castillo). Meanwhile, Nygma and Penguin cross paths again, and Bruce pressures Galavan into handing over the name of his parents’ murderer."

Gordon has faced plenty of murderers and thugs, even a couple of would-be supervillains. But he has never really faced a highly trained assassin whose job it was specifically to kill him (i.e. Zsasz has never tried very hard in their numerous encounters). Of course he will survive, he’s like the one person who is safe from being killed in Gotham, but how far will this latest test of his sanity push him?

Then there’s new friends Penguin and Edward Nygma, who both have changed quite a bit since they crossed paths in season one when Edward Nygma was still a just a weird but sweet little forensic examiner and Penguin was still a mob underling. Now Ed’s a full-blown serial killer and Penguin is the “King of Gotham”. But this king clearly needs some bad help maintaining his throne. Will Nygma provide it in a new partnership between the two?

Finally, Theo Galavan is under arrest and presumably in prison, but the synopsis mentions that Bruce will pressure him somehow into giving up the name of the person who actually murdered Thomas and Martha Wayne (if you remember Galavan. But what can Bruce pressure Theo with? We’ll find out in this Monday’s episode of Gotham, “A Bitter Pill To Swallow” On Fox!
