DC Cross-Promotes Gotham and Batman v Superman

There will be a new Batman v Superman trailer right after this Monday’s mid-season finale of Gotham!

While DC Entertainment has been quite adamant that their TV and film universes will not be crossing over, today they showed that they are not, in fact, afraid to cross-promote between the two mediums.  This afternoon, the Gotham YouTube channel uploaded a video to promote Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

In the video, cast members shared their thoughts on who they’re pulling for in the upcoming film.  Cast members who voted are Morena Baccarin, Cory Michael Smith, Robin Lord Taylor, Donal Logue, Sean Pertwee, Erin Richards, and Drew Powell.  All of them save for Powell say that they will be pulling for Batman.

It would’ve been great if the cast members who play future Batman villains (Smith and Taylor) had said that they’d like to see Batman get taken down by Superman, but it’s still quite the funny video.  Smith admitted that he was pressured into picking Batman because “David Mazouz, our little Bruce Wayne, is just such a ferocious character I feel like if I don’t say Batman that he might beat me up”.  While Powell on the other hand was quick to make sure that he wouldn’t get fired for choosing Superman.  Give the full video a watch below:

Probably the most exciting part of this video actually came at the very end, when it was announced that there will be an “exclusive sneak peek” of Batman v Superman during this Monday’s mid-season finale of Gotham.  In an interview with Collider a couple of weeks ago, the movie’s co-producer Charles Roven teased that there’d be new footage coming soon.  He had hinted that it might come in the form of a trailer attached to Spectre or Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so it’s possible that the footage attached to Gotham is either taking the place of that trailer or is in addition to that trailer.  I think this cross-promotion is a great marketing move, as there is a ton of audience overlap.
