The Flash: Get Ready For Killer Frost And Deathstorm

It looks like we’ll be seeing the evil versions of two characters on The Flash before the end of Season 2 — and they’ll be bringing both fire and ice to menace the Fastest Man Alive.

After images popped up of Robbie Amell dressed in a different looking costume but clearly reprising his role as Ronnie Raymond, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg confirmed his return to Entertainment Weekly.

The thing is, this isn’t the Ronnie we know, but his Earth 2 counterpart.

"We are beyond excited to have Robbie back on The Flash. You can’t keep a good Firestorm down. Only this time, he’s back with a twist, a deadly Earth-Two version of our beloved Ronnie in the form of Deathstorm."

That name might sound like it belongs to a 90s Image character, but it’s actually been used multiple times in the pages of DC Comics. The Black Lantern Firestorm referred to itself by that name during the Brightest Day series, and in the New 52 continuity, the evil Firestorm counterpart from Earth-3 — the home of the Crime Syndicate — also went by Deathstorm prior to being killed off.

The even more interesting reveals by Kreisberg are that the Earth 2 Caitlin Snow is Killer Frost and that she and that world’s Ronnie are very much a couple. Count me among The Flash fans who presumed that might be the case, as well as being relieved that the regular Caitlin isn’t headed down a path of evil. Probably, anyway.

No word in the EW piece about when exactly we can expect to see the super-powered duo show up, but if Amell is only shooting his scenes now, we’ve still got a bit of a wait. In the meantime, we’ll have to check out new episodes of The Flash beginning on January 19 and be ready for Deathstorm and Killer Frost when they do arrive.
