The Flash Season 2, Episode 10 Synopsis: Potential Energy

I’m not sure about you, but I’m definitely ready for The Flash to be back on TV with new episodes. We haven’t been able to say that since December 8 of last year, but the show’s winter break is over this week thanks to Season 2, episode 10, which is titled “Potential Energy.”

More from TV

When last we left the S.T.A.R. Labs crew, everyone was dealing with a Christmas present of a different kind: the previously unseen son of Joe West (and sister of Iris West), Wally West. We also saw that the Earth-2 Harrison Wells was working with Zoom to help the villain steal the Flash’s speed, albeit against his will with his daughter Jesse still held captive.

As we speed back into action, the midseason premiere is set to pick up at least one of those major subplots, as well as introducing a new villain. Here’s the official synopsis for “Potential Energy” from The CW:

"Now that they’ve grown closer, Barry (Grant Gustin) considers telling Patty (guest star Shantel VanSanten) that he is The Flash. Meanwhile, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Iris (Candice Patton) try to get to know Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale), and the team hunts down a meta-human who can slow time itself."

The villain in question is the Turtle, a new take on a Flash villain who goes all the way back to the Golden Age of DC Comics, and one that Cisco Ramon amusingly has known about for some time. As for Barry and Patty, the logic-defying decision not to tell her he’s the Flash — since there are so many other people who already know — looks like it could come back to haunt him, if the teasers for the remainder of Season 2 are any indication.

With the return of The Flash also comes a brand new The Flash After Show from our friends at theStream.tv. It looks like the regular crew of Dylan Landon, Devon Stewart, Lauren Mayhew, and Jack Hind is back together for this one, and they will have plenty to discuss. You can participate too by tweeting your questions with the hashtag #TheFlashAS for a chance at the hosts answering them live on the air beginning at 9:15 pm Eastern time on January 19.

The Flash will get things started even sooner, as “Potential Energy” will air at 8 pm on The CW on the 19th. Don’t be late!
