Agent Carter Season 2 Finale Synopsis: Hollywood Ending
By Nick Tylwalk
A season of Agent Carter goes by quickly. Combine a low episode count with several weeks where ABC showed back-to-back installments and bam, we’re already at the Agent Carter Season 2 finale.

At least the season (and series, we fear) will be going out with a bang. After the explosive finish to episode 9, Jason Wilkes looks like he’s no longer among the living. That’s sad for Peggy Carter, who grew close with the scientist early on, but not as tragic for fans since Wilkes had become a jerk acting solely in his own self-interest over the past few weeks.
The much bigger issue is that Wilkes and Whitney Frost were linked, essentially sharing control of the Zero Matter. With Wilkes gone, all of the dangerous extradimensional substance might just flow on over to Madame Masque, making her more powerful than ever. Not that she needed a boost, mind you.
Howard Stark was able to devise a way to neutralize Zero Matter once, but Peggy, Edwin Jarvis and Peggy’s SSR teammates are running out of time. The official synopsis for “Hollywood Ending” from ABC and Marvel also makes it sound like the Season 2 finale might be ironically named:
"Peggy needs Howard Stark to eliminate Zero Matter as they are faced with a mission none of them could come back from, on the season finale of “Marvel’s Agent Carter,” TUESDAY, MARCH 1 (9:00-10:00 p.m. EST) on the ABC Television Network."

Will someone have to make the ultimate sacrifice to stop Whitney? Thanks to other Marvel Cinematic Universe shows and movies, we know it won’t be Peggy herself. Howard also should be safe since Tony Stark hasn’t been born yet and he knew his dad from childhood.
Jarvis seems unlikely as well, since Tony wouldn’t have named his first Iron Man AI after his dad’s butler without bonding with him first. Daniel Sousa and Jack Thompson certainly are possibilities, and as tragic as it would be for Peggy to lose someone else close to her if Sousa gets killed off, we’re hoping Thompson does the ultimate redemption thing and sacrifices himself if need be.
It’s certain to be can’t miss TV for any fans of the series or the characters, so be sure to tune in at 9 pm on March 1 for the Agent Carter Season 2 finale. And please come back here after it’s over for what could be the last Agent Carter recap from Christina Lazzara. Fingers crossed that it won’t be!
