The DC Extended Universe’s Justice League Part One has just grown its roster by one more. Veteran actor Willem Dafoe has joined the ever-growing cast to play … wait for it … a good guy! Yep, the man who’s more known for being cast as a villain or baddie is coming on board as someone who will be against them. The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news, and it’s unknown what character Dafoe will be playing. However, he’s signed on to also be in Justice League Part Two.

Coincidentally, this is the second actor to join Justice League Part One from the Sam Raimi / Tobey Maquire Spider-Man series. The first was J.K. Simmons, who played the short-tempered Daily Bugle editor-in-chief J. Jonah Jameson. Simmons was recently announced as the newest actor to step into the role of Commissioner James Gordon. Dafoe, in Spider-Man (2002), played one of the web-head’s most famous villains — The Green Goblin. He later reprised that role in Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Spider-Man 3 (2007), albeit, as hallucinations and flashbacks.

So who could Dafoe be playing? All we know is that he’ll be a good guy and will be appearing in both parts of the Justice League. These clues only tell us that he’ll be a major player. Taking to the various fan forums, some guesses are the Martian Manhunter and Metron. I’m sure fans would applaud the casting if it is indeed the Martian Manhunter. Being that, in the comics, he was also a senior founding member of the Justice League, everyone will want to see that character on the silver screen. Metron also makes sense because the storyline, heavily hinted at in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, is moving towards the introduction of Darkseid.

What are your guesses? Who would you like to see Willem Dafoe play?
