Marvel Comics has released a preview of the upcoming Inhumans Prime #1, which will redefine the world of the Inhumans.

When Marvel announced the Inhumans vs. X-Men miniseries, many readers felt that it was Marvel trying to fix two birds with one stone. Or in this case, fix two nagging problems with one miniseries.

With the X-Men, Marvel was ready to put the mutants of the Marvel Universe back in the spotlight in a big way. Inhumans vs. X-Men would resolve the issues they had with the Inhumans and allow them to rejoin the rest of the heroes while also giving Marvel a chance to relaunch a number of new X-Men ongoings.

Those various titles will be the focus of X-Men Prime #1 and will arrive in comic shops later in March.

As for the Inhumans, Marvel had a different problem all together.

More from Comics

Marvel has been trying desperately to make the Inhumans a key part of the Marvel Universe for years now. Before that the characters had been nothing but a footnote in the history of the Fantastic Four and Marvel wanted to change that. But so far, the results have been mixed.

In all honesty, it would be more accurate to say readers just don’t care about the Inhumans. At all.

Now with Inhumans vs. X-Men, it gives Marvel a chance to put on a new coat of paint and try once again to get fans excited about Black Bolt, Medusa and the rest.

Inhumans Prime #1 features a new story by up and coming writer Al Ewing with art by Ryan Sook and Chris Allen. It will put the wheels in motion and set up the three new Inhumans titles launching later this year: Royals, Secret Warriors and Black Bolt.

From the Marvel solicitation:

"Their throne shattered by the events of Inhumans vs. X-Men, times are changing for the Inhumans. And the ResurrXion begins for this strange super race this March in INHUMANS PRIME #1! Setting the stage for a bevy of can’t-miss new series – Royals, Secret Warriors, and Black Bolt – this one-shot asks the question: is there a future for the Inhuman race? Incoming Royals writer Al Ewing is joined by fan-favorite artist Ryan Sook and rising star Chris Allen to bring readers the next blockbuster chapter of Inhumanity! Witness…the trial of Maximus! The prophecy of Marvel Boy! The rise of a new leader! And more! Plus, what dark secret is Black Bolt hiding that could shatter the Inhumans once and for all? Be there for this special issue that bridges the past of the Inhumans…and their future. Both here on Earth, and in the depths of space!"
