Entertainment Weekly has released a bevy of new photos from Thor: Ragnarok and it includes our first look at Jeff Goldblum As The Grandmaster.

When you ask fans to rank the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, almost always Thor and Thor: The Dark World end up near or at the bottom. It’s not that they aren’t good films, because they are. It just that when compared to movies like Avengers or the Captain America sequels, they come up a bit lacking.

That said, those same fans will usually say that despite that, Tom Hiddleston as Loki more than makes up for any faults in the story or acting.

Hiddleston does have his fans and they are some serious people.

More from Movies

So the fact that Marvel decided to shake this up for the third film, Thor: Ragnarok is not surprising. The movie will see Thor and Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/Incredible Hulk go on a buddy adventure through the stars. Rumors persist that the film will loosely adapt the popular “Planet Hulk” storyline from the comics and will feature a lot more humor than the previous two movies.

With trailers for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming in theaters and online, fans are starting to get excited for the next film, which will be Thor: Ragnarok. And Entertainment Weekly is more than happy to help those fans out.

This week’s Entertainment Weekly features a cover story on the movie as well as a number of exclusive photos from the production. These include some behind the scenes material as well as our first look at Cate Blanchett as Hela and Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie.

But the big news is our first look at Jeff Goldblum As The Grandmaster.

Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

For those who are not up on their Marvel mythology, The Grandmaster is one of the Elders of the Universe and a big player in the history of the Infinity Stones. By extension, The Infinity Stones are going to be the main plot point of the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War and the big war against Thanos.

So all this has fans asking if Thor: Ragnarok will give us some more clues about Thanos and what his plans are for the Infinity Stones. It’s a safe bet that if there any clues in the movie, they will have something to do with the character.

As far as how Goldblum looks as The Grandmaster, I have to say I like it. He definitely captures the vibe and feel of the character. There’s no question he has the acting skills to pull off the role, so it’s great to know the produces have done a great job with the visuals as well.

Thor: Ragnarok arrives in theaters everywhere on November 3, 2017 with Avengers: Infinity War following in May of 2018.
