Preview: Royals #1 From Marvel

Marvel Comics has provided a preview of the first issue of Royals, the new Inhumans series launching in the beginning of April.

The last few months most of the attention of Marvel’s upcoming ResurrXion initiative has had to deal with the X-Men family of books. After years of neglect Marvel is ready and willing to put the X-Men back into the spotlight and expand the line to heights it hasn’t see in far too long.

However, the X-Men aren’t the only comics to be getting a facelift. Marvel is using the end of the Inhumans vs. X-Men miniseries to also relaunch their Inhumans comics as well. New titles, new characters and new storylines are all on the docket as Marvel attmepts once again to get fans excited about the characters.

Which if you ask anyone, they will tell you it has not been easy.

More from Comics

For some reason, readers have been incredibly reluctant to embrace the Inhumans and their world. While both Uncanny Inhumans and All-New Inhumans had their fans, neither set sales records or had fans waiting on the edge of their seat for the next issue.

Now Marvel is looking to change that.

It all starts with Inhumans Prime #1, which will give readers a sampling of what they can expect. But the fireworks really kick off with Royals #1, the first of the new Inhumans ongoings to hit store shelves.

Royals will be written by Al Ewing with artwork by Jonboy Meyers and will feature the classic Inhumans fans know, including Black Bolt and Medusa. It sees the Inhumans royal family head into space to see if they can discover where they came from in the hope that it will help them understand their future.

From the Marvel solicitation:

"Abdicating the throne in the wake of Inhumans vs. X-Men, Marvel’s newest space epic will take the Inhumans to the far reaches of space and beyond! The knowledge they seek about their true origins could change the course of Inhuman destiny, or damn it for all time. They must uncover who they are, if they are to truly unlock who they might be. Now, Black Bolt, Medusa, Crystal, Gorgon, Flint and Swain – along with Marvel Boy as their guide – will blast off on a mission that could mean salvation for their people. But thousands of years from now, when their legend has passed into myth, they’ll say that seven set out on a journey, but only six returned…"
