Preview: Weapon X #1 From Marvel

Marvel has provided a preview of the first issue of the new ongoing series Weapon X by Greg Pak and Greg Land.

For almost as long as Wolverine has been slashing and clawing his way through the Marvel Universe, the Weapon X program has never been far behind. The shadowy organization has been responsible for creating some of the deadliest killers in comics and has long been a ket part of the X-Men family of titles.

Now the program will be thrust into the spotlight once again as Marvel launches a new ongoing Weapon X title as part of RessurXion.

The book will feature a cast of some of the best hunters in Marvel Universe as they attempt to battle the Weapon X program, which has a new mandate: kill all mutants. The title will include Old Man Logan, Warpath, Sabretooth and more as they fight the soldiers of Weapon X and its new director.

Along with the two new X-Men titles, Weapon X will be one of the core books in the newly expanded X-Men family of titles. Marvel has already announced the book will be crossing over with Totally Awesome Hulk for the Weapons of Mutant Destruction event so it would seem Marvel is all in on mutants once again.

Written by Greg Pak with artwork by Greg Land, Weapon X will reunite the two creators best known for their work on X-Men: Phoenix Endsong. Pak already has a reputation as one of the best writers working in the business and Land, while he has his detractors, still draws some very pretty comic books.

Either way, Weapon X sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun, in a bloody and gruesome kind of way.

Weapon X goes on sale in comic shops and digitally on April 12, 2017 with a cover by Land. It will also feature variant covers by Rob Liefeld, Dale Keown, Leonard Kirk, David Nakayama and one yet to be announced.
