Michael Giacchino would be up for scoring a Batman movie!

Warner Bros. and DC Films’ The Batman is really starting to get off the ground. With Matt Reeves directing and a script from Chris Terrio, things are slowly coming together. One of the things that many fans might be speculating is who might score the film. Well, a very well-known composer has just revealed his desire to score for the caped crusader.

While at the premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, composer Michael Giacchino spoke with Variant Comics (via Batman News). While speaking with the outlet, he was asked if he would be interested in scoring a Batman movie, and stated that he would like to if the opportunity presented itself. He also revealed that he is a fan of the character:

"“If I had the opportunity, yeah.  It depends on who’s making it and who’s involved, but yeah I would love to. I mean I love Batman.”"

This may be a small piece of news, but it could be huge for The Batman. Giacchino is currently one of the most sought after composers in Hollywood. He’s worked on various films over his 20-year career, and has three Grammys, an Emmy, a Golden Globe and an Oscar under his belt. He also has two significant advantages if he were to pursue the job.

One advantage is that he has already collaborated with director Matt Reeves. The two teamed up on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) and are currently working on War for the Planet of the Apes. The other advantage is that he is no stranger to the superhero genre. He scored last year’s Doctor Strange for Marvel Studios and worked with the studio a second time for this summer’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Overall, this seems like a match made in heaven. Still, we shouldn’t get too excited just yet. This is far from a sure thing, but if it does end up happening, it would definitely be sweet.
