The Tournament of Power will be a “Battle Royale” style match-up, which will pit eight out of the twelve existing universes. Each competing universe will feature ten of their strongest warriors and the losing universes will be eliminated by the Omni-Kings.
The latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump has been released. Thanks to the Twitter translations of @Herms98, we have the synopsis for Episode 97:
"Warriors gather atop the fighting arena! A total of 80 warriors from the eight universes participating in the “Tournament of Power” assemble at the fighting arena in the World of Void! With their universes on the line, these warriors await the gong for the match to begin. And so, the Omni-Kings finally announce the beginning of the survival match where losing universes shall be annihilated!!The fuse is lit for the fierce battle! The Tournament of Power will decide the universes’ fate!! What will Frieza do?! Beerus is on pins and needles?!"
Here we go, folks! The time is finally here. What we can expect is a chaotic battle which will last for many episodes. We have never seen anything like this, where 80 warriors are grouped together. With the universes and their God’s lives on the line, you can understand why Beerus would be nervous.
Due to all the pressures on each universe, team leader Gohan will have some issues to deal with in this episode:
"“Gohan This Week: As the leader, can he put his plan into action?! Finding a means of survival in group tactics, Gohan passes his strategy on to his teammates. However, the outlook is starting to look grim as multiple people (Frieza in particular) act on their own!?”"
Gohan must look over himself and nine other warriors. It’s understandable why things would get out of control. You have Frieza who has his own agenda, Vegeta who is prideful and follows no one. and Goku who’s always looking for a challenge. Can Gohan control his team? Only time will tell.
Dragon Ball Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 pm. CST.
