The galaxy’s most famous a-holes make a solid return in their second outing. While writer-director James Gunn has a little less story this time around and does occasionally go out of his way to thrill audiences, he delivers a more intimate piece that focuses on family—and who we choose to accept as such.

The cast is more than ready to take on this brand new story with Dave Bautista’s Drax, Michael Rooker’s Yondu, and newcomer Pom Klementieff’s Mantis serving as standouts. We also get a solid villain, some more nice tunes, and what is probably the first true standalone film in the MCU.
