It sounds like the Black Order is going to have quite a role to play in Avengers: Infinity War!
Fans were bursting with excitement when Marvel Studios revealed Thanos’ Black Order will be featured in Avengers: Infinity War. Although the team which consists of Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, Cull Obsidian and Ebony Maw are comic book favorites, they were brought into the story for more than just fan service.
Co-director Joe Russo talked with SupeHeroHype at San Diego Comic-Con and discussed his and his brother Anthony’s decision to include the infamous group in the film:

"“We get inspired by a lot of different material when we’re working on the movie. We pulled from both “Infinity” runs for this, and look, there are a scary bunch of characters who I happen to think, when I read the Infinity run, were super cool. And when I got the opportunity to make this movie, I said I have to do the Black Order.”"
He then went on to explain the characters will serve as a major obstacle for the MCU heroes before they can even touch Thanos:
"“You know, we have so many characters and Thanos needs to be teased out. You can’t have the characters challenging him every step of the way. There has to be characters that they have to go through to get to him. The Black Order is the perfect cast of characters to do that with.”"

It’s good to know the villainous quartet will play a large role and not merely be “cannon fodder.” Anyone who has read the comics knows these are some of the most formidable antagonists the Marvel Universe has to offer. And, if the Russos did pull from Jim Starlin’s Infinity runs, they should pose a major threat to our heroes.
Avengers: Infinity War arrives in theaters on May 4, 2018 followed by the Untitled Avengers Sequel on May 3, 2019.
