Dragon Ball Super episode 101 recap and review: “Universal Survival Saga: The Warrior of Justice Closes In!”
By Idrees Khan
Dragon Ball Super’s Episode 101 showcased the showdown between Universe 7 and Universe 11, as Goku tried to fight Jiren.
Dragon Ball Super‘s “Universal Survival Saga” focuses on the Tournament of Power. The tournament involves eight out of the twelve existing universes. Ten of the strongest in each universe will fight in a “Battle Royale” style match. The losing universes will be eliminated by the Omni-Kings.
In the previous episode, we saw Kale transform into the Legendary Super Saiyan form. She rampaged throughout the battle stage until Jiren took her down. This caught Goku’s attention, prompting him to challenge Jiren to a fight. Will Jiren agree?

We begin with the aftermath of the previous episode. Kale has no memory of her transformation and Goku wants to fight Jiren. Before the fight begins, Toppo interferes and takes Jiren away to rest up. Goku must instead tend to the rest of the Pride Troopers.
The Pride Troopers (excluding their leader Kahseral) attack Goku, Kale and Caulifla. This leads to Kale being trapped in an interdimensional bubble.
Elsewhere, the rest of Universe 7’s warriors are performing well, even eliminating competitors of their own. No.17 and No.18 decide to help Goku and Universe 6’s Saiyans. They even manage to eliminate one of the Pride Troopers, much to the dismay of Kahseral.
However, thanks to an interdimensional shield, they are unable to help Caulfila and Kale. The two Universe 6 Saiyans are helpless as they are outnumbered. But after seeing Caulifla take a lot of punishment, Kale transforms once again. Only this time, she is in control of her form.
The two team up and manage to eliminate most of the Pride Troopers via a joint Laser Beam. There is only one remaining Pride Trooper left who saved herself by trapping herself in an interdimensional bubble. However, this was useless, as No.18 just threw her out.
The episode ends with Kale and Caulifla momentarily parting ways with Goku. While this is all happening, Brianne looks on.

Thoughts on the Episode
I thought this was a decent episode. We caught a glimpse of what the Pride Troopers are capable of and it just makes me wonder how strong Jiren and Toppo will be. As for Kale, it is interesting to see where she goes from here now that she’s managed to control her form.
