2. Unbreakable
For those that saw the movie Split and was confused as to why Bruce Willis showed up at the end of the movie, it was because of another M. Night Shyamalan film he made called Unbreakable, which has had a resurgence in popular culture for the past few years due to all of the superhero hype. It looks like the horror director has started creating his own superhero cinematic universe similar to Marvel, and it all started with this great movie. It tells the story of a man who finds out that he has superhuman strength and is pretty much invulnerable. Slowly becoming a hero and using his gifts for good.
This movie is similar to Chronicle, where we also get to see a character slowly become a villain. Mr. Glass, performed brilliantly by Samuel Jackson, is the polar opposite of Willis’ character David Dunn. Glass is a super genius but his bones are very fragile. This is a beautiful piece of filmmaking that has some great performances and cinematic moments. Before the director lost his hot streak with The Happening, The Last Airbender, etc, he made this really great movie that deserves more recognition than it gets.
