7. Citizen Cold saves The Flash, Green Arrow, Legends and Alex

The Flash‘s “Crisis On Earth-X” crossover with Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl produced countless awe-inspiring moments. Despite the fact that these shows are on TV all year round, this special installment felt like a fresh big-budget event.

As The Flash, Green Arrow, Sara Lance, Professor Stein, Jefferson Jackson, Alex Danvers and newcomer Ray Terrill all found themselves imprisoned Earth-X, things were about to go from bad to worse. Quentin Lance’s evil Earth-X doppelgänger had the heroes lined up and ready to be shot by Nazis. However, before the unthinkable could happen, the Nazi soldiers were frozen by none other than Citizen Cold. Leonard Snart’s Earth-X doppelgänger, Leo, made a hilarious pun about hating fire, and then congratulated himself for it, before saving the heroes of the Arrowverse.

Everything from the eerie yellow lighting to the Gothic music made this scene beautifully uneasy. Knowing the hatred that these Nazi soldiers harbored towards their enemies, and the terrible things that the Earth-Xers had already done, we were uncomfortably on the edges of our seats, fearing for our favorite heroes. But Leo’s arrival added some much-needed levity to the situation and restored hope to the Gothic crossover.
