4. Kitty Pryde

Kitty Pryde is an intellectually gifted mutant who earned the nickname Shadowcat because she could phase through any solid objects. Kitty’s talents caught the attention of both the Hellfire Club and the X-Men when she was 13-years old. Kitty chose to follow Professor X and his team and immediately befriended Storm. However, it would be Wolverine who would serve as one of her mentors. In fact, at one point Kitty was manipulated into killing Wolverine, after she became possessed by Ogun. Her actions guilted her into running away, but Wolverine helped confront her guilt and together they joined forces to defeat the mutant what tried to control her.

During her tenure with the X-Men Kitty developed a long-lasting relationship with another team member, Colossus. She’s often depicted with a dragon next to her because during a mission she developed a psychic bond with an alien dragon, Lockheed. At some point, after the Mutant Massacre, she and Nightcrawler would form their own team in Britain called Excalibur. One of her more prominent ars became a movie, Days of Future Past.

Unfortunately, unlike the comics, Kitty was not the main character, instead she was used a catalyst for Wolverine to travel back in time. While in the comics, she was able to project herself consciousness into her younger self to warn the X-Men of incoming danger. The initial depiction of Kitty may have been of a supporting character but she’s so much more than that. She would ultimately become the leader of the more prominent mutants associated with not just the team of X-Men, but the entire series. As a matter of fact, Tim Miller (Deadpool) understands what she means and has decided to take on a Kitty Pryde solo film. The role of Kitty was previously played Ellen Paige in X-Men: Last Stand and Days of Future Past.
