Isaiah Bradley

The final Captain America option goes to someone that has not debuted on the big screen. It’s Isaiah Bradley, another character that donned the Red, White, and Blue in the comic books, and the first-ever African-American version of this hero.

Bradley might be the second-best fit on this list, to assume the Captain America role. He was a fellow super soldier in the 1940’s, who also hailed from New York City and joined the army in World War II.

After Dr. Erskine’s death in the comic books (he also perished in The First Avenger), the desire remained to create more super soldiers. According to Marvel Wikia, Bradley was amongst the forcibly-recruited African-American used as test subjects. He survived, along with Maurice Canfield and Luke Evans, and became a special team for the army.

If Bradley becomes a real-life character, everything after this would not matter, including how he became Captain America, because only one exists in the MCU. Even the events of Bradley’s background might be changed, but this can be done in a modern-day situation, like the army wanting to retry the super-soldier serum for the war in the Middle East. After either success or failure, he could go into hiding, not wanting to expose his powers. Maybe, he has Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and fears a return to any battlefield. However, one Avenger with a military background, or via recruitment from the Avengers base, could hone in on Isaiah and bring him to the team.
