Avengers: Infinity War: Silver Surfer rumors addressed by Russo Brothers

Will the Silver Surfer appear in Avengers: Infinity War? The movie’s directors denied this rumor.

While the Fox and Disney deal hasn’t been solidified, that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating about characters being involved in Avengers: Infinity War. There’s good reason for this. There will be Skrulls in Captain Marvel and they’re rumored to be in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Also, Quicksilver has been in Avengers: Age of Ultron as well as Fox’s X-Men: Days of the Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse. It’s possible that characters like Silver Surfer could make a surprise appearance in Avengers: Infinity War or the untitled Avengers 4 movie. Unfortunately for fans, Joe Russo may have ended those thoughts.

Russo told Yahoo movies, “I don’t think we own Silver Surfer. But it’s fan-wish fulfillment and, you know, if this Disney-Fox deal goes through there’s going to be a lot more characters coming into the Marvel universe, so some of those crazy fan theories might come true.” This may seem like a definite no, but there are some things to give fans hope.

Is there hope?

The Russo Brothers wrote a note asking fans to not spoil the movie for people who haven’t seen it yet. Why could this give the fans hope? One of the things that could be a secret (besides who dies) are new characters being introduced in the movie. With Avengers: Infinity War being a cosmic space event, there is a possibility that the Silver Surfer will appear. Even if it’s in the end.

Recently, we covered possible titles for Avengers 4 and one of them was Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet. Silver Surfer is a major part of Infinity Gauntlet in the comics. It would be disappointing to have that particular story without the Silver Surfer. Another major player could also be Adam Warlock. It’s not likely since he’s still cooking in that weird pod we saw at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

There is one more thing. Joe Russo’s comment may give people second thoughts. He said, “some of those crazy fan theories might come true.” This could be Russo’s way of saying to not lose hope in the new character theories. Avengers: Infinity War has already broken Black Panther’s record-breaking ticket pre-order sales, so we will have to wait and see on April 23rd.
