30 greatest Deadpool moments in Marvel Comics
By Mark Lynch
5. Wolverine and Deadpool
Wolverine has hated Deadpool from the moment he met him. He’d already heard about him attacking X-Force and Cable and every time they met it turned into a fight. Even after Deadpool turned his life around, he challenged Wolverine to fight because he was told by his therapist (Dr. Bong) that it would help him clear his head. Maybe their most brutal battle was in Wolverine Origins.
The world’s governments were in fear. Wolverine got all of his memories back and was on a mission to get revenge on all the people who’ve ever controlled him. Deadpool was hired by a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent to kill Wolverine before he could cause any more damage. Deadpool spent almost all of his money putting things in motion to take out Logan. My favorite part was when he painted an “X” on the ground and had a piano dropped on Logan.
Despite all the idiocy, Deadpool is an amazing planner and it showed. After Deadpool captured Wolverine he goes on a rant and admits that he’s upset that the X-Men would accept Logan but not him. The story ends when we find out Wolverine had Bucky hire Deadpool and this was all a plan for Logan to get his son Daken.
Wolverine and Logan went on to become teammates on X-Force and developed a mutual respect for each other. It wasn’t until Deadpool: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly that Logan and Wade became friends. Logan noticed that Wade was trying to be a better person. Logan had no choice but to see Wade in a different light. I wonder what will happen now that Logan is alive. Hopefully, their relationship will continue to grow.
