Ben Reilly: The Scarlet Spider #19 brings Mysterio back in full form. Check out our review.

Writer: Peter David
Artist: André Lima Araújo
Color artist: Rachelle Rosenberg
Letterer: VC’s Joe Caramagna
Cover artists: Khary Randolph and Emilio Lopez

The Mysterio storyline continues in Ben Reilly: Scarlet Spider #19. Misty Beck put on a performance that was just a front for another plan of hers. However, it is safe to say that things don’t go quite as planned.

More from Spider-Man

By the end of this issue, there’s only a small sense of satisfaction as we see “The End?” on the final page. We know there’s more to the story that we still need to see, but we won’t get it just yet.

The story involves Cyttorak, who has been known as Cyttorak the Destroyer, Lord of Oblivion and Master of the Raging Storm over the years. We don’t see the being, but Misty wants to tap into it’s power. This is the reason she dragged her dad her and when things go awry, he goes full-blown Mysterio.

Mysterio is furious with Ben even though he had nothing to do with Misty’s plan. He thinks that his daughter is dead, but at the end, we see her eyes light up on the final page. Ben also sees Kaine once the building returns and the two say very little about their respective experiences.

Peter David has done a nice job with the story throughout his run and André Lima Araújo continues his run as the artist. Ben Reilly has been quite enjoyable and I’m curious how long the character is sticking around as Marvel’s Fresh Start titles continue to roll out.

Ben Reilly: The Scarlet Spider #19. B. . Peter David, Will Sliney, Rachelle Rosenberg.

This issue wasn’t the most thrilling one in the series, but it looks like it’s setting up something big. I’m looking forward to what comes in the next issue.
