The story thus far
Though The Amazing Spider-Man is ending it’s original run and having a “fresh start,” the same is not true for Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man. This series has featured a different type of story than the Red Goblin arc for the past several issues. Since issue #300, Spidey, J. Jonah Jameson and Teresa have been trying to stop the Tinkerer and Vedomi by going back into the past. This has caused them to meet the past version of Peter, face the past Green Goblin, and create an alternate timeline where Peter is not Spidey and Norman Osborn reigns supreme. This issue, things finally started looking up for the trio.

The story now
The main focus of this issue is Peter and his two companions getting back to their time with Dr. Doom’s help. Norman and his forces try to stop them, but they are held back by the Resistance, Gwen Stacy, and Spider-Man! Not our Spidey, but the one who gave up being the wallcrawler years ago. It turns out that he has a newer costume of his own is still pretty skilled when it comes to fighting baddies.

At the end of the comic, Peter, J. Jonah Jameson and Teresa Parker travel back to their time. The other Peter decides to stay Spider-Man permanently and take down Osborn and his “Green America.” But, sadly, Captain America dies while facing Norman and his army. His Resistance still lives on, though.
I enjoyed this issue some, but not really until the end. I feel like it wasn’t big enough to be the final battle fought in this timeline. However, one thing I did like was how alternate Peter’s suit had a white spider symbol, just like in the upcoming game for PS4. Even though this might be just to promote the game, I still think it looks cool and really separates him from our Peter. I hope the writers have something big planned for the upcoming issue of Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man because I am ready for it.
