4. What will cause Winn to return?

Perhaps the most emotional moment in a finale full of them came during Winn’s departure. Agent Schott had been a regular presence on the show since the beginning and was finally getting some well-deserved credit. With a mission that involves saving the world from the deadly Brainiac, Winn traveled with Mon-El back to the future, taking Brainiac 5’s place in the Legion. And just like that, he found the calling he had been searching for.

Though it was incredibly hard to say goodbye to the beloved character, it isn’t the last we’ll see of him. Actor Jeremy Jordan may be departing the show as a series regular, but he will be sticking around in a recurring capacity. So our nerdy and unintentionally hilarious whiz kid will be returning to our screens at some point next season.

The promise of Winn’s return leaves us wondering how he will reappear. We imagine that a recurring status suggests that he’ll show up sporadically. But perhaps the showrunners will use a similar strategy to the one they used when Calista Flockhart departed by writing him a short multi-episode arc at a time. Now that he’s traveled to the future to save the A.I.s, it’s safe to say that he’ll be pretty busy.  But could we see him pop-up with transmissions throughout the season to offer updates and guidance, or will he return to help Team Supergirl with a deadly threat?

However it happens, it’s good to know that he’ll be back. Despite being criminally underused, Winn was always one of Supergirl‘s strongest attributes and Jordan never failed to impress with his outstanding performance. Let’s hope he’ll get plenty of chances to do so he recurs throughout Season 4.
