Director Cathy Yan can use young actress with immense talent like Saoirse Ronan. Casting the Oscar-nominated actress will bring fan fair and the eyes of big-time critics. Should Yan’s film focus on a troubled youthful Barbara Gordon Ronan would be great.
There isn’t a role she can’t master, and it’s something she’s been doing for over a decade. Her award-worthy ability was noticeable very early in her career (2008) where she was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in Anointment. Furthermore, Ronan would go on to with 43 awards with 93 nominations including being the second youngest actress ever to be nominated for three Oscars. In fact, Ronan won Golden Globe’s best actress award for Lady Bird proving she can hold down a movie on her own. Casting her as Barbara would be a fantastic move for the DCEU.

If Yan is looking for a soaring star she’ll find that in Lily James. The 29-year old English actress has taken Hollywood by storm. Like Rose Leslie, James made a name for herself on Downton Abbey. Although one can argue that her most notable performance came in 2015 as Cinderella. However, James’ resume proves she’s more than just a princess.
In Fast Girls, James showed off her athleticism as Lisa Temple, a member of the British 4×100 relay team. And in Wrath of the Titans, she played an ill-fated soldier, Karina. Additionally, James proved how kick-ass she was in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. James would go on to flex her acting muscles with a fantastic American country accent in the critically acclaimed Baby Driver. With James’ versatility and acting chops, whether Barbara is in a wheelchair or wearing a suit, James would be perfect.
