3. We don’t need another X-Men reboot

The Fox/Disney merger will finally allow Disney to receive its Marvel entity that is the X-Men. It’s understandable why fans would think the franchise will get a reboot — not so fast.  We’ll take a trip down memory lane and we don’t need Professor X to help us with this one.

The first ever live-action X-Men movie was introduced in 2000.  From there, an entire X-Men universe was born. While it initially consisted of Wolverine movies, Deadpool was also born, and now New Mutants, maybe.

After a failed third installment of the X-Men franchise, Fox called Bryan Singer back and he gave us X-Men First Class. And in 2014 the entire franchise was rebooted (softly) with Days of Future Past. Now we have a brand new class of X-Men who were introduced in X-Men Apocalypse. In fact, X-Men Dark Phoenix reshoots could allow for this cast of X-Men to exist in the MCU and that’s a great thing.

This new class of X-Men has a really solid cast lead by Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Night Crawler. They are the perfect age and have the right amount of talent to continue in Disney’s X-Men. Their stories are just now being told so why reboot a reboot that has been successful?

As a matter of fact, Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique has been vastly misused. Lawrence is an amazing actress who can Mystique to new heights. The same goes for Evan Peters’ Quicksilver. The youth of the X-Men cast gives Disney something they have going with Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, Shuri, and in the future with Kamala Khan. Why not keep the focus on this young core group there’s no need to recast them. However, there is one old X-Men actor we don’t need to see make a return.
