2. Guy Gardner could shine in the DCEU

Over the years, fans became very interested in a number for Green Lanterns not named Hal Jordan. John Stewart was one but there are more. With an old Hal Jordan, the DCEU has an opportunity to branch off and explore these other Green Lantern Corps members. Guy Garner is a Lantern some may argue is even more popular and well received than John Stewart. He’s filled with rage, grit, like an athlete with immense talent who knows it.

Guy is anything but that, instead, his story is gritty. He was a troubled child yearning for his father’s attention who ended up in jail. With the help of his brother, a police officer he got his life on track. After returning from college Guy learned of his brother was a crooked cop that got himself kicked off the force and committed suicide. And, his alcoholic father drank himself to death. Guy had a temper and the events made things worse but he channeled his anger and became a PE Teacher for children with Special Needs.

He was one of two humans considered for The Corps but the ring chose Hal because Guy was too far. Guy Gardner would eventually become a replacement Lantern for Hal Jordan. Ironically, Hal and Guy cross paths before the event when Guy counseled Hal when he was in jail. The story of Guy is one that would make a great, dark movie. And with Hal Jordan being old it gives the DCEU freedom to push him aside.
