4. New Mutants

Yes, we understand that technically New Mutants is a Fox property still slated to be released under their brand. Nevertheless, Disney may have the ultimate say so. Since we aren’t privy to that information we’re just going to roll with the idea that Disney has ultimate control.

Fox has delayed New Mutants more than once, so a third time wouldn’t hurt. In fact, delaying New Mutants might help.  New Mutants gives Disney a chance to create something special for their X-Men Universe. We’ve seen the trailer and there’s a horror element that exists in New Mutants we won’t get in any other Disney film. The thought of Disney doing a horror film might not sit well with people. However, this is a chance for Disney to put their unique spin on a film that could connect two very distinct universes.

How Disney can fit New Mutants into an existing universe

In New Mutants the group of special teens is held captive in a facility. This facility could be an expansion of Hydra. It can loosely connect to the origin of Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) in Age of Ultron. Pushing back that date will allow Disney to insert their Easter eggs and get fans excited about the future of the X-Men in the MCU.

New Mutants has an excellent cast Anya Taylor Joy, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Blu Hunt, and Henry Zaga as the mutants. Queen Sugars’ Alice Braga and Antonio Banderas are also set to star.  New Mutants will hit theaters Aug. 2, 2019, but pushing back a year would make sense.
