Despite the sale to Disney, Fox doesn’t plan on giving up on Channing Tatum’s Gambit solo movie in the X-Men universe, but should they?

Deadpool and Logan proved that with patience and support, a great movie can be made. Fox is hoping to recreate that same magic with their long in development Gambit solo movie. Over the years, there have been disappointing reports surrounding Gambit. The production date has fluctuated in large part because Fox has struggled to find a director for this X-Men movie.

Director or not, Fox still has plans for Gambit. According to Christoper Marc of Geeks WorldWide, Fox plans to start filming in New Orleans, Feb. 15, 2019. The alleged production date comes as a surprise to say the least. With the Disney/Fox merger, it appeared shelving Gambit could become a possibility. In fact, Disney agreed to release all completed X-Men films, and Gambit the still doesn’t have a director. However, Channing Tatum is set to star in the movie written by Reid Carolin (Logan Lucky) with Simon Kinberg set to produce.

The question is: Should Fox continue to force Gambit into production? And, the answer is yes, sort of. There’s a spot for a Gambit solo movi,e but a lot has to change. For starters, Channing Tatum.
