Gambit needs a younger actor

The only actor attached to the role is Channing Tatum. He’s set to play Remy LeBeau in movie that chronicles the life of the New Orleans-born mutant. We think it’s time for Fox to move on from Tatum playing the role of Gambit. However, Tatum should still have a role in the film, specifically as producer. The issue isn’t with Tatum’a acting ability. It’s his age. Tatum is a well-known, talented actor, but he’s 38-years old. We understand  that Gambit is a solo movie, but there’s no reason it should be a true standalone film. As a matter of fact, if Gambit were previously established in the original X-Men trilogy or as part of the failed X-Men: Origins banner, we’d be all for it.

Unfortunately, the entire X-Men Universe was rebooted with X-Men: Days of Future Past. Moreover, who knows what damage Deadpool has done traveling back in time further fixing other mistakes made by Fox. This new group of X-Men is filled with actors in their early 20s and like Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, a meaty 40-year old Gambit doesn’t fit. In order for Gambit to work, the studio should cast an actor 10-15 years younger than Tatum. A younger actor allows for more freedom and world work seamlessly in a crossover that Marvel fans have waited nearly a decade for.
