2. Betty Cooper

There’s something about Betty. Maybe it’s how innocent she was when we first met her in Season 1 and how changed wholly changed she is now that the world and its darkness has had its way with her.

And maybe it’s how strong she’s remained in the face of this darkness? Betty Cooper has risen from the depths of this extensive cast and elbowed her way into its leading star. In most episodes, this is Betty’s show. She’s running things, kicking a– and taking names.

As previously stated, Riverdale has been a masterwork of putting together a cast of young newcomers and turning them into stars, much like the pop culture phenomenon teen dramas before it.

Hands down, the most alluring and nuanced talent to arise from the pack is Lili Reinhart, whose range as Betty Cooper spans drama, horror, comedy and everything in between. She’s proven, just like her character, to be a commanding underdog amid a sea of big personalities.

By and large, Betty’s taken on the role of fighting on the front lines. If Nancy Drew had a child with Buffy Summers, that child would definitely have grown up to be this contemporary version of the Archie Comics character.

She basically solved Jason Blossom’s murder, faced the Black Hood and there’s no doubt she’ll be the on to take down The Farm and the Gargoyle King in one fell swoop. Let’s hope her friends, family and town know how lucky they are to have Betty sacrificing her time and sanity for them day in and day out.
