Chris Evans recalls the Captain America scene he loves the most, and it’s sure to be a fan favorite, as well.

Captain America has had plenty of memorable moments since his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. From leading the Avengers in the Battle of New York to facing down Iron Man in Civil War, the Star-Spangled Avenger has done it all. But there’s one particular scene that Chris Evans remembers most fondly.

Evans caught up with THR to reflect on his time as Captain America and, during the chat, he was asked about his favorite fight scene. The actor immediately named the elevator sequence from Captain America: The Winter Solider as his top pick. It was the first scene he shot for the film, as well as his first time being directing by the Russos. And it ultimately set the tone Cap moving forward:

"“I’m partial to that fight scene in the elevator. That was the first scene we shot in the second Captain America movie. It was my first time working with the Russos, it was the first time where it felt like Cap was kind of on his own. In the first Cap movie you know, you really felt like everyone was holding my hand, and the first Avengers movie I just did my best to not get in the way. The second Cap movie is the one that I really kind of felt, I suppose, pressure, and that first elevator fight scene came out really great in my opinion.”"

The Winter Solider, which is regarded by many comic book fans as one of if not the best film in the MCU, has several notable action sequences. Along with the elevator scene, there’s also the highway fight between Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes (Winter Solider) and Cap’s duel with Georges Batroc. But the elevator scene truly helped to redefine the way audiences viewed Cap.

As Evans pointed out, Steve Rogers had his moments in The First Avenger and The Avengers, but he was somewhat limited by the presence of so many other characters. But with Winter Solider, Rogers was forced to handle some situations on his own. This even included pinballing off a jet while escaping from SHIELD.

Following the film, there was no doubt that Captain America is a force to be reckoned with, and it carried into his subsequent appearances. With Avengers: Endgame on the horizon, one can only imagine what big moments await Cap. And with the fate of the universe at stake, he could get more of his fair share of them.
