What comic book moments would be perfect for Avengers: Endgame?

Avengers: Endgame has everyone wondering what will happen. Will the Avengers all die? Are some of them going to lose their powers or end up in another dimension? How will they defeat Thanos? An even scarier is whether or not Thanos can be beaten?

There are even more questions from people who read comic books. Moments from Infinity Gauntlet have people speculating on what could happen to Thanos. There are a plethora of moments in the comics that would make for cool and tragic scenes in the movie. Here are some moments that could make their way into Avengers: Endgame.

Thanos kills War Machine

War Machine is on the list of characters that are expendable in this movie. In Civil War 2, The Ultimates were joined by She-Hulk and War Machine to take on Thanos. Due to the information they received from an Inhuman with prophetic powers, they thought the element of surprise would be enough to take Thanos out. They were wrong. This fight ended with She-Hulk in a coma and War Machine dead. This may be dark, but don’t be shocked when this happens. Rhodey will probably be the first casualty.

Thor loses an arm

Thor has probably been beating himself up since he didn’t kill Thanos when he had the chance. This time around, when Thor gets another opportunity, he will aim for the head. Although, will he get the chance to make this happen? And if so, at what cost? In the comic books, Malekith cut Thor’s arm off. Granted, Thor didn’t have his hammer then. That doesn’t mean that Thanos can’t do it. There’s also another way Thor could lose his arm. Don’t be shocked if Thor tries to use one of the stones and loses his arm in the process. Thor losing his arms sets up for Valkyrie being the next God of Thunder.

Captain America stands up to Thanos

The image above is easily my favorite moment from the Infinity Gauntlet comic. Captain America stood up to Thanos, looked him right in the eye, and told him how he felt. It’s one thing to talk smack to a goon or a nameless Hydra henchman. It’s another to tell someone who can kill you with a thought that they’ll never win. Even after he broke Cap’s shield, he didn’t stop fighting. More than anything on this list, we need a moment like this. Captain America standing up to Thanos like the bully he is.

Nebula acquires the Infinity Gauntlet

Of all the people to take the Infinity Gauntlet from Thanos, Nebula stealing it would be the funniest. After years of Thanos underestimating her, taking pieces of her body, and then torturing her, it would be worth it. If for nothing else just so she can wipe the smug look off of his face. Nebula may not be the one to defeat Thanos, but, like in the Infinity Gauntlet comic, it would be cool to see her take it off of him. Maybe even take it, try to use it, and die. A sacrifice to save the universe.

Retirement

In the end of the Infinity Gauntlet comic, Thanos became a farmer. He told Adam Warlock (who sadly probably won’t be in Avengers: Endgame) that he was done chasing power. He retired and became a farmer. As unlikely as this is, it would be a nice ending. Especially since Marvel keeps killing their villains. Thanos had the right idea by helping the universe, his execution was off by half (rim-shot). Thanos could fake his death or even escape to appear in a future movie. Although, it’s more likely that Thanos is already retired and the Avengers trying to set things right is him coming out of retirement.
