Viewers now have their best look at what to expect from Agents of SHIELD season 6. Some season 5 spoilers ahead.

Agents of SHIELD season 6 premieres next week, so the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first TV series revealed a new full trailer to promote the upcoming season.

Previously, a teaser had been revealed, as had a clip that had little to no context.

That changed Thursday afternoon, May 2.

“We couldn’t save him, but we can save other lives,” newly promoted Director Mack McKenzie (Henry Simmons) says in a voiceover. “And that’s what we’re gonna do.”

As they are wont to do, newly arrived aliens crash into Earth’s atmosphere and are set on wreaking destruction. Trouble is, one of these visitors looks an awful lot like Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), who died from cancer after last season.

The not-Coulson and those with him seem to be bounty hunters targeting Deke Shaw, the time-displaced grandson of Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) and Leo Fitz (Iain De Caesticker).

Together with at least three new allies, what remains of the core SHIELD team is pitted against this extraterrestrial threat.

But there is still much left open for fans to puzzle over.

According to We Got This Covered, season 6 is set about a year after Avengers: Infinity War. But the Snap won’t be reversed for another four years in Avengers: Endgame,  But with the curious nature of time travel in that film, when factored in with the team’s actions against Gravitron in the season 5 finale during Thanos’ arrival, prove that time can be altered.

This means that it’s entirely possible that the Snap never occurred in this alternate timeline. For one thing, Fitz is still in his cryochamber on his way to rescue everyone else from their future as Kree captives. How is this possible, since he died in “The End” (5.22)?

And who is this new Clark Gregg character, anyway? The actor has teased the role as “disturbing.”

Next. Who were the MVPs of Avengers: Endgame?. dark

Agents of SHIELD season 6 gets underway when “Missing Pieces” airs on ABC on Friday, May 11 at 8 p.m. ET.
