2. Richard Madden

As far as popularity goes, no one has been bigger this year than Richard Madden. With his fan-favorite show, Bodyguard and the Elton John biopic, Rocketman, both gaining so much traction, it seems that Madden is here to stay, and it’s a shame that he was never in the running for this incarnation of Batman (as far as we know).

Madden might not have the same robust stature that Ben Affleck has, but 15 years leaves a lot of time to grow, and the base elements that an actor needs for Batman are all there. He’s handsome, charming, dark, brooding, good in action roles, and is much more popular than Robert Pattinson right now. What more could someone want? Nevertheless, it looks as though Madden will get his shot at a superhero role in Marvel’s The Eternals.

3. Dylan O’Brien

When it comes to young, action star, Dylan O’Brien is who most people think of, and it seemed like most fans wanted him to be the Caped Crusader once The Batman was revealed to be a prequel. While O’Brien may look a little green for such a dark character, that can speak to the origin of the film.

This isn’t the grizzled Batman that everyone is used to seeing, this is a Batman who is figuring himself out, and O’Brien’s boyish charm and sheer knack for being in action roles would make for an interesting interpretation. This may be what Matt Reeves is trying to do with Pattinson, but he is just too established of an actor to pull off an inexperienced vigilante. So Dylan O’Brien may have been a better choice altogether.
